Midsummer Mild is our take on the traditional British dark mild, inspired by the old-school beers of Yorkshire and brewed for proper, uncomplicated drinking. At 4.0% ABV, it is smooth, balanced and remarkably easy to enjoy, proving that a beer doesn't need to be strong, heavily hopped or complicated to have plenty of character.
Deep copper to dark amber in colour, Midsummer Mild brings a rich malt-led profile to the glass. The aroma is softly sweet and inviting, with notes of toffee, caramel, light biscuit and toasted malt, followed by a subtle hint of dark fruit.
The first sip is smooth and rounded, with caramel and toffee taking centre stage before gentle flavours of biscuits, toasted malt and light dried fruit develop across the palate. A restrained bitterness keeps the sweetness in check, giving the beer balance without taking away from its rich malt character.
Despite its darker appearance, Midsummer Mild is far from heavy. The body is smooth and approachable, with a soft mouthfeel and a clean, satisfying finish. There is just enough roasted malt character to add depth without becoming overly bitter or burnt.
It's the sort of beer that belongs in a proper pint glass, at the bar with good company, and ideally followed by another.
